Endo

AVE 12 of 300:
Endo (2008)
Directed by Jade Castro

Gateway Cinema 9, Opening Day, Last Full Show: There were only about fifteen of us in the theater, five of whom were my friends from San Pablo–Mayo, Aiza, Jozzel, Vinnie and Gen (Philip had to go home after our dinner at Italiannis; Raph texted me that he couldn’t join us even if he wanted to); it was our reunion movie and Vinnie decided on it weeks ago when she posted about it on her LJ.

The last time I saw most of them were during my booklaunch in 2006, and yet I was still very comfortable with them. I never laughed with friends in a long time the way I did with them earlier. Even after the film, we were all making fun of the most “quotable” lines in the movie:

“Ang pangit-pangit ng mundo, pinagtitiyagaan ko lang…”

“Gusto ko lang sabihing mahal kita, kahit iiwan mo na ako…”

Ina Feleo used to be my student in one of the Fil 14 classes I handled about 3 or four years ago. I remember that she had to skip her final requirements in class because she had to go abroad for some workshop or something before the semester ended. Now she’s taking acting seriously; I just hope that she continues to deliver in her projects to come.

Today’s Valentine’s Day, for some people, but for me, today’s just technically the first time I’m using the newly-installed Smart Bro (which is not really that wireless, I tell you; I had to leave for school immediately after it was installed yesterday afternoon) here in my room. It was hard to connect earlier, but now it’s smoother. There. I have to catch up on my posts here in the next few days.

  1. 2/14/08 UPDATE: Earlier today, I received two Endo-related messages from two La Sallian friends. The first is from Heidi Pascual, asking for our support to vote for their band’s (Ang Bandang Shirley) video in MYX, “Sa Madaling Salita,” which is also the theme song of ENDO. If you want to support them, just text Myx(space)Vote(space)Sa Madaling Salita, and then send to 2366. The other message was from Jewel Castro, a fictionist and co-fellow in the IYAS workshop held in Bacolod five years ago: “From Jessica Zafra - Jason Abalos is NOT related to Benjamin Abalos. In ENDO, Jason plays an HONEST contractual worker who falls in love but wonders if he can afford it. ENDO opens today at SM Cinemas, Glorietta 4, and Gateway Cubao. We don’t have $265M, just a real love story.”

  2. Smart Bro din ang connection ko, mukhang OK naman ser. Belated Kapuso Day (kahit Kapamilya ka)! Hehe.

  3. Mukhang OK na nga ngayon, nakakapag-download na ako ng pelikula, ‘yung mga film na na-miss ko, heto ang nasa bit torrent ko ngayon: LUST CAUTION, MY BLUEBERRY NIGHTS, ACROSS THE UNIVERSE, & PAPRIKA. Ang saya-saya. Happy Valentine’s din.
