Call for Submissions: TAPAT
(This has long been in hibernation. I already asked for submissions for a Tapat Literary Journal about two years ago, but with the proliferation of anthologies and journals that published poems, short stories and creative non-fiction, some reconsiderations had to be made. Last night, however, agreement details with the person who will fund this were finalized. I am so happy. I now encourage all of you to submit.)
TAPAT is a quarterly literary journal on the novel in Filipino; release of volume 1 is targeted on June 2008.
We are currently accepting submissions for the following:
1. Serial Novel. We are particularly interested with works that arguably contribute to the development of the literary novel as genre. Initial submission must be good for at least two issues; the length for each issue is from 25 to 40 manuscript pages. Submissions for subsequent issues will be arranged as soon as your initial submission has been accepted for publication. A modest amount of PhP 4,000.00 will be given for every part of the series published.
2. Essay on the Novel. The essay may be in the form of criticism or review of a novel in Filipino. You can also submit a creative process essay (if you have a published novel in Filipino), a literary biography of a novelist in Filipino, or an essay on the poetics or any aspect of the novel. The length of the essay must not exceed 50 manuscript pages. A modest amount of PhP 150.00 per manuscript page will be given for every essay published.
3. Interview. If you intend to interview a published novelist in Filipino, interview questions must be sent to us and approved prior to the interview. The submission must include the complete transcript of the interview with a brief introduction on the novelist and a few notes on the interview process. A modest amount of PhP 150.00 per manuscript page will be given for every interview published.
All submissions must be sent in .doc or .rtf format to nobelangtapat@gmail.com. If you would like your work to be considered for the maiden issue, please submit it on or before 29 February 2008. Each submission will be refereed. You must be willing to grant first publication rights to TAPAT. We will inform you of the status of your manuscript 30 to 45 days after your submission.
