Maging Sino Ka Man: Ang Pagbabalik

Maging Sino Ka Man: Ang Pagbabalik

1. I remember Jay Fernando sending a Friendster message before Maging Sino Ka Man’s first season opened last  October 6, 2006. He told us that he wrote the first few episodes and he was asking for some comments and suggestions (which I think I failed to send him). I did watch the first few episodes but I didn’t get to watch the series consistently (“I never…said…that I love you!”), until I was hooked a few weeks before the finale. When it ended in May 25, 2007 and promised a comeback, I was set to watch season 2, even if only for Rosanna Roces.

2. Season 2 began last December 10, 2007, and boasts with a powerhouse cast. This time, I was enthralled. It’s nice how they are able to keep all the younger characters (Eli, Jackie, JB, Celine, Onay, and now, even Lena) likable; the shadows are cast on the more mature ones: Fidel, Mateo, Veronica and Corazon (who still delivers the most memorable lines to date, like: “A toast to sons who abandoned their mothers, and to the sluts who take them away!” and “So, what’s this? At this time & age, a secret admirer? How retro.”)

3. Not until Tomas Arroyo was killed in last week’s episode did I realize that three of the major Brocka and Bernal actors of the seventies were in the series: Bembol Roco, Christopher de Leon and Philip Salvador. I told you, the acting caliber average here is huge.
